SU ultrasonic edge sensors for web guiding systems are designed to detect the edges of materials such as paper, cardboard, and plastic film, regardless of color or transparency. Used in web guiding systems, these sensors ensure accurate and reliable material reading, optimizing web alignment throughout the production process.
Equipped with two ultrasonic capsules, the transmitter generates a sequence of ultrasonic waves that are received by the sensor. Based on the intensity of the received signal, the microprocessor determines the portion of the sensitive area covered by the material, precisely calculating the material edge position within the fork.
There are different versions of SU ultrasonic edge sensors based on fork width, ranging from 25 mm to 100 mm, with a reading range from 6 mm to 22 mm and a resolution of up to 0.01 mm. Some models feature an IP54 protection class, making them dust- and splash-resistant, ideal for more challenging work environments. Additionally, versions designed for noisy environments are also available.
For easy calibration and management, the SU-M and SU-FAST versions come with an integrated keypad and LED-bar, simplifying interaction with the system.
Using two sensors simultaneously allows for center guiding via remote control, further improving alignment accuracy.
In a complete web guiding system, SU ultrasonic edge sensors work alongside MWG22, MWG10.1, SmartMotion technology and the WLigo display, and mechanical frames such as WG offset pivoting frames, WR steering rollers, and AT linear actuators to maintain web alignment during production.
SU ultrasonic sensors for web guiding systems can be mounted on manual sensor holders, manual holders with micrometric adjustments, or automatic holders.
